Is the old testament of the bible suitable reading for young bible students?

I feel it is because it lends to a better understanding of what God can do for us.  But I do recommend a study Bible directed more towards kids with explanations of verses and such.  I just did a search on amazon.com for kids Bible and it came up with many, many, many different types so you might try that.  I do recommend an NIV version of the Bible because it is in a more modern english.
