Bible Studies/seeing angels
Expert: Rev. Frank Ricketts - 11/6/2007
QuestionVague, I admit, but I remember a passage where Moses? or someone was possibly involved in a battle, and something happened with the person's eyes, and they were then able to see angels (and demons?) around them, on the surrounding hills or something - please help with this, I have been searching for the right passage and cannot find it.
Answer2 Kings 6:15-16 And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, an host compassed the city both with horses and chariots. And his servant said unto him, Alas, my master! how shall we do? And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them.
This is the passage I believe you are talking about. The servant of Elisha felt surrounded with no way out and saw a host encompassed about the city with horses and chariots. The servant went running back to Elisha and said, “Alas, my master, what shall we do?” Elisha was relaxed because he saw beyond.
Elisha said, “Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them”.
Verse 17: And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.
Instead of the enemy taking Elisha captive, Elisha took them captive because he kept his eyes upon God and not on what surrounded him.
