QuestionHi John
when you read about the tower of babel and the confusion of languages, theres a verse saying that if God didn't intervene then nothing that man will do be impossible?
what does this mean?
AnswerSome believe that the tower of babel being knocked down and the confusion of languages was God's means of making man fufill genesis 9 vs 1. That of dispersing the race to subdue the earth. The archaeology evidence shows that the tower of babel was a building to be used for astrology. Nimrod was ambitious to rule over all the cities he could . he founded more cities after the confusion of languages. If the world were composed of only one language and one people then one ruler would rule over it. Absolute power in the hands of one. Whenever one ruler has total power then he has total control over evereyone. Anyone who does not conform can easily be destroyed. There are many examples in history of what happens when one ruler has absolute authority. Eventually the bible predicts a one world government with one ruler. He or she or it will have total control and any dissent will be easily squelched when you have everyone cooperating. The bible condems the consulting of the sun, moon , and stars as Satanic. This was the original purpose for which the tower was built. It was not to reach heaven but was built to reach up toward heaven.
