Question
My Bishon will be 5 y/o in April.  He seems to be going bald on his sides and on the topbase of his body.  He shows no signs of itching. He does rub his sides on the sofa occasionally.  The vet took blood and urine samples and everything is normal.  He has always been rather lazy! The coat is thin and wiry where he is balding and the skin is black!  Any help would be appreciated.  Joan

Answer
If all the bloods have come back normal then I would alter his diet, give him foods rich in omega 3,6.9 , foods like salmon, mackeral, sardines, chese, mashed pots etc, why not try a raw food diet, this has been known to improve skin and hairloss problems.
The fact he rubs himself would suggest an intolerance causing itching.

Did the vet do tests for thyroid and other known conditions associated with these breeds.
