Bichon Frise - house breaking

Question
We've had our Bichon Frise for almost 3 years.  He was only 6 wks old when
we got him.  He was very difficult to potty train and even now, at 3 years old
he marks his territory and poops in the house.  He asks to go out but
sometimes can't wait more than a few seconds before he just poops inside.
My husband is done.  He wants to get rid of him, however I do love the little
stinker.  Any advice?

the very best way ahead is to go back to basic training, in cases like these which are rarer than you would think I advise crate training as if he was a puppy. If you stick with it he will be toilet trained very quickly. Most bichons appear bad to toilet train due to owners not being 100% consistent, I live with over 40 dogs and they are all fully trained from the 8 week old ones to the 12 year old ones.

I am sorry you appear not to like my answer, in my experience of over 40 years with dogs there isnt a bichon that isnt trainable, there are many owners though, just because a DOG LOOKS CUTE doesnt mean that training goes by the board.
I can assure you that either you are sending out the wrong signals to the dog and or training has been rather sporadic instead of consistent.

My suggestion to go back to basics will work, but you need to stick with it.

regards
