Bichon Frise - Squating to pee every 5 feet while on walk

Expert: Kaza - 4/2/2009

Question
My three legged Bichon (missing back leg) will be 6 in September. She got this leg amputated when she was 4 months.
Lately she stops every 5 feet and attempts to pee.  Nothing seems to come out.  This is a walk that we do every day.  She even squats on the sidewalk.
No accidents in the house.  Dry food and water diet.
Don't see any blood or hear her whimpering.
When I carry her, she doesn't wiggle to be let down.  But when I let her down, she keeps squating.  This is not a pooping squat.
She is a bit overweight but not pudgy.  I think she weighs 12 pounds.
Thankyou for your help.

Answer
Immediately place her on cranberry tablets three per day as this sounds like the start of stones or an infection either can see benefits from giving cranberry tablets.

Due to her breed , age etc I would be using glucosamine and chondratin daily and cranberry tablets and lutein tablets daily for the rest of her life. I would also once per week be using a fibre tablet to ensure she is healthy inside.

After three days please take to vet if she is still having some issues urinarating or earlier should she be in any pain or discomfort.
