Question I have a 4 month old bichon frise. he recently had an ear infection, we gave him the antibiotic, and it went away. what is the best way, in your opinion, to prevent an ear infection from coming back, especially in a breed like a bichon that has the floppy ears? thanks.
Answer some say to remove inner ear hair, but research shows that this isnt always the best way to prevent infection and can actually increase likelyhood to infection as the hair that would have stopped dirt has now been removed.
We make a powder called Ch-ears that is distributed through Bichon hotel.
Keep water away from inside the ears and when bathing always check that the area is clean, clear and free of smelly discharge. Most suffer from earmites when not cleaned well, so a small dab of powder will stop this happening and help keep ears clean and mite free.
