Question hello just got our 12 week old female bichon fraise.were currently giving her dried purina beta with a little water with grated cheese for breakfast butchers choice tinned food for dinner then the dried food again for tea time.also lots of fresh water and 2 -3 very small treats.is this ok or would you recommend a differant diet.also thought she was constipated as she was a little distressed when trying to poo.i manualy removed some dry poo that had built up around her fur (think a hair cut around that region needed)looked a little sore and she then suffered a bit of the runs.
Answer Hi there , the diet she is on I would much rather was changed for her sake.
Foods I recommend are :
Chicken (raw uncooked)
Lamb "
Rice
Cucumber sliced
Apple sliced
green beans cooked
Salmon cooked, Mackeral cooked, Pilchards tinned (brine or oil not tomato sauce )
Peas, carrot batons ,
Supplements
lutein 1 per week (Holland and Barratt)for cataract prevention
Fibre diet pills 1 per week (Holland and Barratt ) for anal glands support
Cranberry tablets (Holland and Barratt) for prevention of some kinds of stones.
Cheese only as a occasional treat , too much makes a fatty dog
These dogs do far better on the above foods and thrive on a BARF diet, however that is your choice.
