Question My 9 year old Bijon Frise, Max, has started making choking and gagging noises. He has no problem eating and drinking. He makes the noises when he has been running about, but also when he has been sleeping. He seems to be more tired than usual too.
Answer Firstly is he overweight, if so immediately control that. Secondly toy breeds do have a tendency to have a small trachea which is obviously exacerbated thru being overweight.
Now this to me sounds like reverse sneezing and is common in this breed in particular. Way to stop it is to grasp his muzzle as he does it and gently blow up the nose, or grip hismuzzle and cover his nose for a few seconds until his diaphragm has managed to regain its position.
Hope this helps. We have a multi international forum if you need more help and wish to chat about your baby online.
