I have a Bichon which I rescued around two years ago, when I got him he had terrible skin issues: I started him on a special diet of brown rice, chicken ground flax seed and a smidge of olive oil, I occasionally add ground vegtables. He has the most beautiful coat and only occasionally will he get a heat spot, which is usually when the temperature is very hot. I bath him with Septaderm shampoo and apply Septaderm lotion to any heat spot and that usually does the trick.
