Question
Hi,
My Bichon is 2 years old and while she has a very curly coat
it is not very thick, it has thickened along her back but
not on her legs or head, is there any way I can help thicken
it up? Also the hair on her head grows extremely slowly and
I'd love her to have that full rounded appearance, could she
be deficient in something or is it all down to regular
cutting?

Answer
Coat is mainly down to genetics however , diet will also play a good part of that. Suggest that you start by taking her off dried foods which really dont do much for coated breeds at all.Start using fish oils in her daily diet omegas 3,6,9 flax seed oil and olive oil will all help her coat to be more stimulated from the follicle end thus it usually develops better and thicker over a shorter time.

Hope that helps

most bichons do far better on a more natural diet high in salmon , oily fish potatoes mashed, veggies and some fruits.
