Question
our 9 year old dog has been peeing on the couch off and on for the last 6 months..I notice that he is panting more frequent and restless during the night. What could it be.

I am not a vet and advise a FBC , which all dogs should have at this age anyway, its like our own healthcare plan for middle age.These blood tests rule out things like diabetes, cancers, deficiency in the liver and kidneys, I would also ask the vet to run a test for any other disease that can affect the breed.
In the meantime I would ensure he is not overweight and that he doesnt overeat the wrong foods, dogs that eat a high dried diet tend to have more issues than those with a natural diet. Bit like us I suppose.
