Bichon Frise/Red Stains on Bischons

Question
We are considering adopting a rescue Bischon and were told that she
has the red saliva that stains her feet and legs.  Our Bishons have never
had that.  Will it stain our furniture or clothes?

Answer
Hello Ginger
they dont have red saliva , the red stains you see on most white dogs are caused by a bacteria that oxidises in the air due to tearing from the eye. The ones on the feet are caused by the same bacteria , created due to licking which is likely an intolerance to either its environment or its food, I would advise those who have this dog to place it on a natural diet and ensure that it does not run through grassy fields until its intolerance is sorted. However as with most I think its a food intolerance more than anything else.
