Bichon Frise - Bichon size

Expert: Breeder - 7/25/2006

Question
My 5 1/2 month old Bichon is about 12 inches long and weighs about 9 lbs. Is this a normal size for his age? About how big will he get?

Answer
The bichon standard is 9 1/2" to 11 1/2" in height to the shoulders.  As far as lenght goes they are slightly longer than tall.  So almost square looking in appreaance.  A dog of this proportion is around 12 to 15 lbs.

From what you describe as 12" long not sure what you have.
They are just about full grown in height by 6 months of age.
