Question
My neighbor who doesn't have a computer wanted me to ask a question or two for her.

1. Can a CKC Bichon be registered AKC?

2. Her Bichon developed siezure problems, she wanted to know if this is a heredity type thing that can be passed on, she had wanted to breed them but is concerned about this, if not she was going to have him fixed.
I hope that you can give some insight on these two subjects.
Thanks,
Ed V.

Answer
1. Yes you can get a AKC registration.  A lot of paperwork.

2. Yes sounds genetic.  The bichon is the # 1 breed for juvinile cataracts, can have hip dyplasia, patella laxation problems, all are genetic problems.  REputable breeders only breeds dogs that are multi-generation ( at least 3 geneations clear) of these genetic problems.  We have the CERF & OFA certification for these problems.
