Bichon Frise - Sniffing

Expert: Breeder - 11/25/2006

Question
I have a year old Bichon and he is driving me crazy.  All he does all day long when he is out of his kennel is sniff around on the floor for, what he thinks is, people food.  It is non stop. He will eat anything he finds. He is almost not friendly because he is more interested in hunting for food than he is in any person. He will try to get away from you to search for food.  I feed him a half a cup of premium food twice a day like my vet instructed.

Answer
Dogs do not over eat.  give him as much food as he wants. This behavior is dysfucitonal.  A year old puppy should be more playful than anything.  A constant hunt for food is not normal.  Bichons are an extremely loving breed, they want a lot of attention.
