I'm sorry but I just read your question.  My bichon scratched  70% of her fur off.  We finally figured out from the help of a vet that we needed to put her on a white fish diet.  I am lucky to have an animal place near me that sells this kind of natural food.  I kn ow this is late but you might want to try it.
