Hi, my Bichon is three years old and has been bitten by fleas outside and continuously itches her bottom of her feet until they bleed, not allowing the scab to form. I have tried many methods with no success. Please help!

Hello Katy. Sorry to hear this. Firstly its important that she receives a good anti flea treatment such as frontline. This will stop worms which develop from the flea larvae. I would worm her using Bob Martins all in one wormer at the moment just in case. Now If in the UK we do a pwoder that is applied to the feet and inside ears if signs of smelly discharge  that can be purchased via our site. This will stop her biting. In the meantine bathe her feet with a good antiseptic wash, apply healing cream any from a petstore will be fine. Until a skin cover has grown I would bandage using a cohesive bandage. Leave on for two to three days then remove. Then check her feet o see oif any foreign body is present such as a tiny shard of glass, this is often the cause not fleas. Bathe her feet in warm water as this will allow any foreign matter to float out.

On a regular basis apply cornflour to her feet this should prevent her from biting at them and keep up with the flea and worm treatments. I would also recommend doing the house with a bob Martins Flea bomb, they are vastly better than any spray and wil save you in the process.
