Bicycle Repair/Knocking noise when riding

Question
Dave--I just bought a new Schwinn road bike, I love the bike but it has this annoying knocking noise... the faster I go the faster the knock.  It's seems to be coming from the front...it makes this noise both when and when I am not pedaling.  Please help!

Answer
Hello Eric. Check the wheel for straightness. you could have a wobbly wheel and it is hitting the front fork or the brake pads. Your wheel may also not be sitting in the dropouts correctly either.

This question is a little vague but those are the usual culprits. If the knocking noise continues please write me a follow up so We can get you riding quietly.

Expertise

I can answer questions on all issues you may have encountered with your bicycle. Some things are hard to explain without visually seeing or riding the bicycle such as vague 'clanking' noises.

Experience

I was my neighborhood mechanic as an early teenager. I have also worked in a bicycle repair shop for about a year and a half.
