Bicycle Repair/Rear derailleur and coasting problem

Question
I just had my rear derailleur hanger replaced.  Now the tension of the derailleur is messed up.  While coasting the derailleur pulls foward and causes the chain to have slack.  how do you adjust the derailleur to fix this problem?

Answer
Hello Jace. The derailleur may have been placed on the hanger wrong. There is a stop on the derailleur that is supposed to rest on a ledge on the hanger. Its sounds to me like that is your problem. You may have damaged your derailleur too when your hanger broke. If these didn't help you please talk to me again so I can help you get your derailleur fixed and  get you riding you bike again.

Expertise

I can answer questions on all issues you may have encountered with your bicycle. Some things are hard to explain without visually seeing or riding the bicycle such as vague 'clanking' noises.

Experience

I was my neighborhood mechanic as an early teenager. I have also worked in a bicycle repair shop for about a year and a half.
