Bicycle Repair/wheel problems

Question
hey, i've got a rear wheel cassette and recently it started to come loose i tightened up the cones no problem but it came loose again and the cones wont tighten this time, any tips?

Answer
Hello Steve. Tightening cones is tricky stuff. From the sounds of it you may also have a bad or worn cone. the cones have to be tightened and loosened precisely so that you have maximum spin on your wheel without any play, so minuet increments should be used.

Also, look at your lock nut and your cone. on the lock nut, are the ridges depleting from the nut? Are the grooves on the cone smooth and free of pitts?

Over time, cones may spread out a little more and need to be adjusted.

This is a question that is hard to answer without actually inspecting the wheel and cones. After you try the different procedures I have listed, please write me a follow up so I can ensure that you are getting the wobble out of your wheel.
