Bicycle Repair/Shimano front deriller

I have a 10 speed bike with Shimano 105 levers.I have a front shifter FD5600 for a 9 speed bike. Can I fit this,a friend says it will damage the gear levers and probably cause the shifter to throw the chain.

If you want to replace your front derailer, you can run the 5600 model. Most front derailers operate with a common leverage ratio,  thus  can be actuated with  your existing shifter.  Be sure to properly set the derailer's Low and  High limit screws, along with correct cable tension, and you should have no problems.

I can answer most inquiries with respect to bicycle assembly, repair, tuning and maintenance. I am less than inclined to speak on such questions as "What kind of bike should I buy?", &/or "What is this bike worth?", etc. Any answers to these types of questions may correlate poorly to an acceptable "fact/sarcasm" ratio.
