Question
what are the components of cell theory

Answer
Hi Julia,

Thanks for the question!  Cell theory states that all organisms are composed of similar units of organization called cells.

Here is a summary of the tenets of modern cell theory:

1.  All living things are made up of cells.

2.  The cell is the structural and functional unit of all living things.

3.  All cells are derived from pre-formed cells by cellular division.

4.  Cells contain DNA which is passed on to subsequent cells during cellular division.

5.  Energy flow occurs within cells.

Hope this helps!

Regards,

Chris
