Dear Stephanie,
Protoctistans are the orgnanisms that belong to the kingdom protoctista. These are primitive eukaryotes that are mainly unicellular and appeared around 1.5 billion years ago. This kingdon contains atleast 10 phyla classified according to their feeding habits.
