Question
Are there any good sites that will help me understand and learn more about biology?

Answer
Dear Pedr,

Biology is such a huge subject that there's no single web site that will help you learn it.  My best suggestion is for you to get a used copy of the textbook "Biology" by Campell and Reece, and start reading!  :)

Once you have a basic background, you can then decide which *area* of biology most interests you, and pursue that.  But Campbell's book is the very best introduction one could hope to have.  If you are not already well-versed in the sciences, you might start with their textbook for non-science college students, "Biology:  Concepts and Connections", which is written in a way more designed for the non-scientist.

If you are interested in learning about evolution, a very important topic that is the basis for *all* fields of biology, an excellent and fun place to visit is the UC Berkeley tutorial on the subject:

Hope that helps get you started.
