Question
I have diverticulitis of the intestine. I watch my temp like a hawk. Sometimes it is low, 96.3 the other night. I do have an infection now and taking augmentin. How low before I worry?

Answer
Hi Regina, thanks for your question.

First, let me say how sorry I am for your condition.  I know this can be very stressful.

Second, I'm not a medical doctor, so I can't give you medical advice, just generalizations.

If your temperature is low, ask youself if you have had anything to eat or drink in the past half hour as this will affect your temperature.

Generally speaking, a fever of 99 for three days running, or a fever over 100 for diverticulitis patients is time to call your doctor.

I'm sure you know quite a lot about your condition, but here are websites that might be helpful:

I hope this answer has helped you.  Please write back if you have more questions.
