Question
what exactly is the abreviation UAG when pertaining to the mRNA sequence complimentary to the ATC on DNA?

Answer
Hi Curtis,

UAG is a stop codon which signals the end of translation.  UAG stands for the Amber stop codon, named after Harris Bernstein; it doesn't code for an Amino Acid.  The other stop codons include UGA & UAA.

Hope this helps.
