Question
I would like to know if i should take my baby to a doctor, he has a salty sweat and it is there everyday.  whether he was playing or not.  when it dried up the whole face would be white with salt

Answer
Dear Lebogang,

I am neither a physician nor a pediatrician.  Your question is more medical than simply biological, so I'm not the best person to ask.

However, I do know that excessive salt in the sweat can be a sign of a very serious genetic disorder, cystic fibrosis.  You can read more about this here:

http://www.umm.edu/altmed/articles/cystic-fibrosis-000045.htm

Please do see a physician about this. The amount of salt does sound excessive, and if your baby has cystic fibrosis, he will need medical treatments to save his life.  I hope this is not the problem.  But if it is, you need to know immediately.

Good luck,

Dana
