can water potential increase on the application of positive pressure and reach a value greater than zero .
Dear Bindu,
Since the water potential of 100% water is set at zero, the addition of any solutes will decrease water potential (i.e., the concentration of water molecules) in that solution. Hence, water potential cannot be higher than zero.
