Biology - Science project on water purification

Expert: Walter Hintz - 10/15/2009

Question
I am a middle school student looking for some help on water purification.i will ask a few Q's:
1. distillation: does the condensation on a cup come from the inside contents?
2. filtration: i am planning on using pea gravel and sand (both sanitized)is this a good idea?

FYI: to figure how much contaminants are left, i am using test strips i found online

Please reply soon. It is greatly appreciated!

Answer
Hi Abby
Water condensation on the outside of a cup  has condensed from the air outside but the temperature of the contents effects it.

I cannot comment on your project because I am not exactly sure about your experimental design. What is your hypothesis?
