Question
why does natural selection acts on the Phenotype and not the genotype of an organism

Answer
Hi Bianca
The phenotype is the expression of the genetic code and it is the genetic makeup that natural selection acts upon.  For example lets assume that a difference in coloration of an insect becomes a disadvantage due to an environmental change. Natural selection affects the survival of the insect.  The difference in coloration is genetic.
