Question
What are special characteristics of sponges?

Answer
Hi Nini,

Sponges belong to Phylum Porifera and one of the most unique features which the sponges have is that they have the ability to suffer any damage, since the cells are not linked into a tissue. They can be separated and joined together. They do not have any definite symmetry. They have no nervous system. They are all filter feeders.

These are the most important ones I can think of, but please read on the anatomy of sponges to get a better understanding.

Good luck,
Swetha
