Question
what is stabilizing selection and disruptive selection....how do they differ from each other??

Answer
Consider birth weight in human babies.  We can construct a curve with the heaviest babies at one end and the lightest in the middle. Stabilizing selection favors the weights in the middle range.  That is the mortality rate occurs most often at the extremes. Suppose the conditions change so that the lighter weights are favored.  This is disruptive selection.
