Dear Dr.   i am 11 weeks pregnant and i know its pretty soon to know any thing or even the gender of the baby now but im so curious to know how will my baby look like. first: im half egyptian half norwegian i have dark brown eyes , straight brown hair, fair skin tone, and a tipped nose (like greeks). my husband is egyptian he has dark brown eyes, black wavy hair, and a tanned skin tone, and his nose is a bit wide with a tiny tip. second: my mum is norwegian she has blue-grey eyes, fair skin, dark blond straight hair, and a tipped nose as well (i got her nose), my father is egyptian he has dark brown eyes, dark tanned skin, dark brown wavy hair and a bit wide nose. My in laws: my mother in law has dark brown eyes, black curly hair, dark skin, and a small nose. my father in law has dark brown eyes, black wavy to straight hair, and a tanned skin tone, and a halk like shaped nose. i was wondering if you could help me out i really hope that my baby will have some norwegian triats like the hair and eye color noting that my norwegian grand parents one has grey eyes and the ther has blue eyes.

Answer
Dark pigments always dominate over light pigments. Since you and your husband have dark hair eyes and skin the odds are that   your child will too.  Since your mom is Norwegian you are carrying genes for lighter pigments that you have a fifty % chance of passing on. The key is your husband.  Unless he is carrying genes for lighter pigments your child will not have any.  It depends upon what your in-laws have
