Question Hi,
I was wondering if you can solve my query. Both my partner and I have red hair - I have black/brown eyes with auburn hair and my partner has hazel eyes with a much lighter coloured hair (almost strawberry blonde) hair.
I understand the nature of recessive genetics & the fact that we both have recessive red hair genes and therefore are almost certainly going to have red haired children, however, my partner also has blonde and brown hair (on legs/chest)which confuses my understanding of his genetic make up! Both of us are 'genetic-throwbacks' as only distant relatives have had red hair in both of our families.
Is there a chance that we could have a brown haired/blonde haired child in this case?
Thank you
Answer Dark pigments are dominant over light. Red heads with brown eyes are less common then red hair and light eyes. I do not think there is a certainty that you will have children with red hair. I think the odds favor children with light hair and brown eyes.
