Question
I am supposed to draw a linear sketch of DNA! What does that mean? Am I supposed to draw the same helical structure or I have to ucoil it and make a ladder like structure?

Answer
Dear Xiang

For specific instructions, you should ask your instructor.  But I think it would be a good idea for you to do both:  Show part of the molecule in its helical structure, and then, lower down on the diagram, show it unwinding, as if for replication.  You can see what I mean here:

But be sure to specify that the DNA is replicating in the lower part of the diagram...or just leave off the new strands.

Hope that helps!
