I don't mean to be immature, but why do humans fart so much? If pets farted as much as people, we wouldn't have pets. Is it what we eat? If I change my diet, will I fart no more than a dog?

This is just a generalization. Some people do it more then others. Domestic animal like cattle do it a lot more. Some dogs do it more then others. I had cats all my life and I never heard them do it but I suppose they were just less noisy.  Producing methane gas is the result of digestion and what you eat has something to do with it. Jokes about eating beans and passing gas are heard all the time. What you you will do with a diet change I have no idea.
