That was an intriguing answer the other day about the turkeys that were crowding around me at the farmyard exhibit.  You mentioned that the larger one, fanning his tail, was a male and probably was sexually interested in me as an ersatz turkey.  I know how young male dogs will get erect and latch onto a human trouser leg.  Would a turkey do the same if I extend my foot to it?  Would its penis be extended visibly, and might it jump on my foot?  I'd be curious to try this when I have old trousers on.  Thanks!

When I was in the Army Medical corp I lived with my family in a house in Maryland Where owner had a full grown Tom turkey. He was the lone male and whenever my toddler daughter entered he back yard he would put on a spectacular mating dance with tail expanded and walking around her. Since she never responded he ceased the behavior. The male behavior is ended unless the female responds in a special way. If she does further behavior is exhibited in the male that would lead to copulation. If not he tries with someone else. Clearly he views all comers as a possible mate.
Your turkey would not display a penis nor jump on you unless you displayed the behavior that would trigger the reaction
