Question
Hi Dana, my name is Allyson and I'm doing a Senior Project right now for my English class and I was wondering if you could answer some questions for me if you have the time.

1) Are you currently working or have previously worked in the field of Genetics?
2) Your mini-profile says you teach Genetics sometimes, do you ever do independent research or with students?
3) How long have you been working as a professor?
4) How long were you in school?
5) (If you feel like this is not too personal) Around about how much is your salary per year?

I'd like to study to become a geneticist one day or a professor like you, so that's why I'm asking these questions.
Thanks!

Answer
Dear Allyson,

1) Are you currently working or have previously worked in the field of Genetics?

Not in genetic research.

2) Your mini-profile says you teach Genetics sometimes, do you ever do independent research or with students?

Over the summer, I sometimes participate in Genetics research problems with middle school students in our Research in Ecology Program.

3) How long have you been working as a professor?

I've been on the faculty of the University of Miami since about 1995

4) How long were you in school?

It took me five years to get a B.S. in Biology and B.A. in English, and another seven years to get the Ph.D.

5) (If you feel like this is not too personal) Around about how much is your salary per year?

Let's say it's more than $50K, but less than $100K.

Good luck on your project.

I am currently an "expert" in both the "Rabbits" and "Wild Animals" categories.
