Question
why do apples turn brown after you slice them. i need soem info on this for my science fair research section

Answer
Hi Odin
The apples contain an enzyme called PPO. When the apple is cut the tissue is exposed to Oxygen abn dthe PPO is converted to phenolic compounds called O-Quinones which bring about the brown color.
In other words the apple is oxidized almost like iron rusting
