Question
why is cellulose a tough material?

Answer
This is a little bit hard to answer tori because "tough" is a relative term. It only makes sense when we compare it to something else. In other "what is it tougher then"
Density can contribute to "toughness". We can say that cellulose fibers are denser then other fibers but on the other hand they are not as tough as protein fibers for example.
