hiya x im thinking about being a marine biologist and i just wanted to know wether it is a hard job to get into and what sort of A levels do i need? If i studied marine biology would i be able to go into the mammals like whales and dolphins rather than the plants. Also what exactly does a marine biologist do would they be cutting up dead dolphins and operating or anytihng or is it more studying their behaviour and doing tests?? thank you hope these questions are no trouble :)xxx

Answer
Hello Kim
I am assuming that you are still a student so I cannot not predict the future with regards to work in oceanography but it seems that is more interest in ever in the ocean. What about your role in this field. If you re still in High school take all science courses and then attend college and get a degree in Biology. As a biology graduate you could find work in ocean studies but to be a  specialist in Marine Biology you will have to attend graduate school. Operating on marine mammals is done by veterinarian specializing in that area and requires a lot more study. marine biologist study all aspects of the sea including all life forms and the ecology. It sounds like you live near the Ocean an may have a college near you.
