Question
It is estimated that mitochondria produce our body weight in ATP every day. Why is this necessary?

As I interpret this statement each day the body turns over the weight of the total amount of ATP not the total weight of the body. At any given moment the body contains about 280 grams of ATP so 280 g of ATP would be converted from ADP. Why? All functions require the energy released
