Question
Describe the potential and kinetic energy in a roller coaster.

Answer
Hi Cate:
Kenetic energy is energy of motion and Potential energy is stored energy due to an objects position in relation to gravity.Start with a coaster at the bottom of the hill at rest. At this point it's potential is basically nil. As it rises against gravity there is an increase in it.s potential energy.  At top of the hill it has reached its maximum potential energy.  During the descent the potential energy is converted to kenetic energy.
