Question
All homoeostatic functions of the body involve feedback mechanisms. Why is this vital for the body? Use an example to support your explanation.

Answer
Homeostasis means maintaining the status quo. Living systems must be in balance within certain limits. Hormones , electrolytes, chemicals, temperature,pH, etc. must be kept in ranges.
Blood nitrogen levels must be mauntained and the kidneys excrete excess Nitrogen.
The pH of blood is around 7.4. Buffers in the blood keep pH at this level.
Your body temperature is normally around 37.5 degrees C. If it rises you sweat and evaporation cools you down.  It it drops you shiver and more heat is generated.  Shivering and sweating are negative feedback mechanisms.
