Question
Hi,
i found this word while reading a precaution manual of VERMOX(Janssen-Cilag)tablet.i was not able to find it's meaning from any source.I wonder the spelling of the word is incorrect. Please help

1)Aneugenic

Thanks for your time

Answer
Dear Chanaka,

An aneugenic agent is a chemical that promotes aneuploidy in cells by affecting normal cell division and migration of chromosomes during mitosis (or meiosis).

Aneuploidy is defined as as abnormal number of chromosomes (one too few; one too many) in any given homologous pair of chromosomes.  (For example, humans have 46 chromosomes--23 matched, or homologous, pairs.  If a fertilized egg (zygote) is formed with 47 chromosomes because it accidentally gets an extra Chromosome #21, then the baby that develops from that zygote will have Down Syndrome.)

I hope that helps.  Please write back if you have more questions about this.
