I know that some birds have scales, but why do they have scales? Reply A.S.A.P

Answer
 Hi Zachary
You have asked a question from the field of evolutionary biology.  They have scales for the same reason that they have feathers. It is part of their DNA and their DNA has come about from the evolutionary process. Now we can asked ourselves the advantage to the bird to have scales on the legs and arrive at some conclusions namely that the legs are important in temperature control.
