Question
Mr. Hintz,

Someone asked these same series of questions some time ago.  I followed the information/link that you provided, but my some of my questions are still unanswered.

The following DNA sequence is found in a segment of double-stranded DNA that encodes for the English word describing protein that is found throughtout your body: AAGATTAGTAGTACGACAATC.  Is this information or template sequence.  How can I tell:  What does my conclusion mean in terms of determing the name of the protein?

Thank you.

Answer
This is a piece of DNA. To get the template you will have to show the mRNA sequence.  Use the base pairing rule and remember that opposite an A is a U. Then you must use a codon sheet to determine the amino acids transcribed.
I have no idea how you can derive a protein from this short piece of DNA
