Question
Using evolutionary principles, explain why large ears might be expected to evolve in a terrestrial plant-eater such as a rabbit or deer, but not in an aquatic mammal such as a seal.

Answer
Hi jamie; Evolutionary change involves competitive advantage or disadvantages. Do to the nature of sound tranmission in water and in air the presense of large external ears in a seal would be disadvantageous and large ears on a land animal would create an advantage.
