Question
I have been diagnosed as carrying an organism called Giardia.  I have been prescribed several doses of antibiotics.  According to a friend of a friend, however, the antibiotics should have no effect.  Is this true?  What is my doctor playing at if it is?

Answer
Hi Mike
Are you sure the medicines are antibiotics? I don't believe that antibiotics are effective. There are several drugs used to treat Giardiasis the most recent being Tinidazole.  Why don't you discuss this with your doctor?  I don't believe that going online with medical problems is a good idea.
Incidentally this protozoan is very infectious so if you have other family mambers be sure you keep your hands clean after the bathroom.
